Car
Liverpool’s testing venue is located in the 1 Union Court building on Cook Street, on the north-west outskirts of the city centre. If approaching Liverpool from the east, the M57 and M62 motorways offer suitable onward connections towards the city centre. The M58 can be used as a key access road if heading to the city from the south-west. 1 Union Court is located just off the A5036 (The Strand).
Parking
There are various local parking sites in relative proximity to the test centre, however, we would recommend the following car parks:
Beetham Plaza: This facility is situated just 150m west of the venue. A two-hour parking ticket is priced at £6.50, and will allow enough time to navigate to the test site, conduct your exam, and then return to your vehicle.
Hackins Hey/Tempest Hey: These two sites sit adjacent to one another, approximately 300m north-east of 1 Union Court. Parking is slightly cheaper at these locations, with two-hour coverage charged at £5.95. The onwards journey to the test centre from both Hackings Hey and Tempest Hey will take roughly four minutes to conduct.
For further nearby parking options, please head to the relevant Parkopedia page, located here.
Bus
Given its city centre position, there are a number of appropriate bus services that facilitate travel towards 1 Union Court. If taking advantage of Liverpool’s local bus network, please aim to arrive at one of the following bus stops:
North John Street, Cook Street, Castle Street, or Derby Square. All of these destinations are within a few minutes’ walk of the test venue.

Train
The Merseyside Rail network provides an efficient mode of transport for travel across Liverpool and its surrounding areas. James Street station is positioned on the network’s Wirral Line, and is around a three-minute from 1 Union Court. To access the test site from here, head east on James Street, before turning left onto Castle Street. Progress north for around 100m, citing the venue on your right-hand side.
For further information on James Street station, please visit the Merseyrail website.
If approaching from outside of the city, and using a conventional overground train service, head for Liverpool Lime Street station. This is a major UK train station which welcomes passengers from areas right around the UK. The quickest way to 1 Union House from here is using the Merseyside Rail network, catching the West Kirkby service towards James Street from the station’s underground platform. On arrival into James Street station, please follow the earlier instructions mentioned above to navigate your way to the test centre. The full journey will take around seven minutes.
Please note that if you’re planning to head to the test site by foot, travel time will increase by roughly five minutes. Progress west on Hood Street and Victoria Street, before merging onto Cook Street and advancing towards the venue.
