Directions

Car

Sheffield’s testing venue is located within the Synergy Building, on Bank Street, in the northern outskirts of the city centre. The M1 motorway offers plenty of connections heading towards various parts of Sheffield, with the test site located just off the A61. Please note that the entrance to the test centre is situated on the Bank Street side of the building.

Parking

There is a reasonable amount of on-street parking spaces around the perimeter of the building, positioned on Bank Street and Hartshead. There is also parking on nearby Queen Street. However, if this option isn’t available on your chosen test day, we would encourage you to head to the multi-storey car park at Hartshead Square. This facility charges £5.90 for a two-hour parking ticket, which will provide ample enough time to navigate to the venue, conduct your exam, and return to your vehicle. All payment types are accepted at this site. The car park is just 50m east of the Synergie building.

For further local parking options, please visit the relevant Parkopedia page.

Bus

Given its city-centre location, there are plenty of bus transit lines that pass in close proximity to the testing venue. If utilising a service within Sheffield’s local bus network, please aim to arrive, if possible, at one of the following bus stops:

High Street, Church Street, West Bar/Workhouse Lane, or Castle Street. All of these destinations are within a few minutes’ walk of the Synergy building.

To plan your personal journey, please click the following link, and scroll down to the ‘bus lines’ section.

Train

Sheffield has a convenient local tram service which offers regular services into the city centre. If you’re planning to conduct your journey via this mode of transport, please head for the Cathedral tram stop, accessible via the yellow, blue, or purple line. This stop is located just 150m south of the Synergy building.

Sheffield Train Station is a major UK travel hub, welcoming passengers from all over the UK. The station is situated just under one kilometre south of the testing venue, with the journey to Bank Street taking around twelve minutes to navigate by foot. Cut through the town centre using Pond Street and Arundel Gate, before heading north-west on High Street and High Court. At the end of the latter road, you’ll emerge onto Hartshead Square, approximately 50m east of the Synergy building (just outside Hartshead Square Car Park).

For live departure and arrival times, station facilities, and accessibility information, please visit the National Rail website.

There are no appropriate connecting bus routes, with services only taking you roughly halfway towards the venue. However, a blue or purple line tram from the Train Station/Hallam University stop will take you to Castle Square, around 150m south-east of the test site.
