Car
Preston’s testing venue is situated on Ormskirk Road, just off the A59 in the northern end of the city centre. If heading towards Preston by car, please note that the M6 and M55 motorways pass the city to the east and north respectively, with plenty of connecting roads offering onwards access to the city centre.
Parking
There are ample, convenient parking options in close proximity to the test centre. We would recommend using the bus station car park, which is located directly opposite the venue. A two-hour parking ticket costs £1.60, which will provide more than enough time to head to the test site, conduct your exam, and then return to your vehicle. Payment for this ticket can be made by cash or using the RingGo service line. Please be aware that both disabled parking and electronic vehicle charging is accommodated at this site.
If the bus station facility is full, you may want to consider using Penny Street Car Park. This site is just 150m north of Ormskirk Road, and charges £1.50 for two-hour parking coverage.
Alternative local car parks can be found here.
Bus
There are multiple bus transit lines that pass nearby the testing venue. If using a local service, please head for one of the following bus stops:
Ringway (The Courts), Gardner Street, or the Bus Station itself. All of these destinations are within a few minutes-walk of Ormskirk Road.
To plan your personal journey to the test centre, please head to the relevant ‘Moovit’ webpage.
Train
Preston Train Station welcomes services from all over the UK. The station is positioned approximately one kilometre south-west of the test site. We would encourage you to head directly to the venue on foot from here, as taking a connecting bus service will only reduce your total journey time by a few mins. Furthermore, distances between station/venue and bus stops means that a considerable amount of walking would still be required.
The route to Ormskirk Road from the train station will take roughly thirteen minutes to navigate. Head north-east using the A59 to progress through the city centre, before turning right onto Lancaster Road. Continue south for around 50m, and then turn left onto Ormskirk Road, and advance eastbound towards the test venue.
