Car
The test site is located in the south of the city, on the banks of the River Clyde and in close proximity to Glasgow Green. The M8 motorway provides access to Glasgow from the north, and the M74 heads towards the city from the south. The A74 cuts through the heart of the city centre, and directly passes the test centre. The venue itself resides within the Adelphi Centre building, situated on Commercial Road.
On-site parking is provided, however, if this car park is full, then please consider the alternative option posted below. If you would prefer to seek out alternative parking arrangements, please visit this area of Glasgow supporting Parkopedia page, located here.
King Street Car Park
This site accommodates 620 vehicles, and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Associated parking costs are as follows:
- 1 hour = £3.45
- 2 hours = £5.95
- 3 hours = £6.95
Prices then gradually rise for each additional hour parked. However, unless you’re planning to extend your stay in Glasgow beyond your test, it’s unlikely that you’ll require longer than three hours for this visit. Nevertheless, if this is the case, it’s worth noting that 24-hour tickers are available to purchase for £15.95
Payments can be made via cash, card, or the PayByPhone service line. If using the PayByPhone function, please call 0330-400-7275, or text 65565, quoting Location ID, 15151.
Disabled parking is accommodated at this facility.
The test centre is around 800m from this car park. Head in a south-westerly direction towards Saltmarket, before crossing the River Clyde via Crown Street bridge. Head along the banks of the Clyde on Adelphi Street, and then turn right after the Homeless Network Scotland building. The Adeplhi Centre will be on your right-hand side.
Bus
There is an extensive number of bus routes that operate in and around the area surrounding the test site. If using one of those services, please aim to arrive at one of the following bus stops:
Waddell Street stop: This destination is just 300m from the venue. To access the test centre, head north up Commercial Street, and then turn left at the first available junction towards the Adelphi Centre.
Lawmoor Street stop: This site is approximately 1 kilometre from Commercial Street. However, there is no appropriate connecting bus services to aid your journey. Advance in a north-westerly direction, heading beyond St. Francis’ Community Centre and across the A74. Please then continue northbound on Commercial Street towards the venue.
High Street stop: Although a considerable distance from the venue (circa 1.3km), the route to the test centre from this location is extremely straightforward. Simply head south on High Street, and merge with Saltmarket. From here, please follow the guidance included in the notes for the King Street Car Park section.
To find specific bus services in operation close by, please head to the Adelphi Centre’s ‘Moovit’ homepage.
Train
There are multiple train stations across the city, which provide accessible travel to its various areas and boroughs. The local station closest to Adelphi House is Argyll Street station, positioned in the centre of Glasgow. However, if approaching the city from further afield, it may be that your journey takes you directly to Glasgow Central, the city’s main train station.
Route guidance from Argyll Street to the testing venue is virtually the same as that given from King Street Car Park, as this also involves navigating Crown Street bridge and heading along Adelphi Street.
Glasgow Central Station is located a little further away, situated just short of 1.5km from the test site. Unfortunately, available connecting bus services take almost as much time as walking, so your best option is to head to the Adelphi Centre directly on foot. Advance southbound on Oswald Street, turning left before reaching King George V bridge. Please then take the long eastbound walk to Crown Street bridge, parallel to the river on Clyde Street. From here, please follow the earlier travel guidance given.
More information about either of these stations can be found on the ScotRail website.
