Directions

Car

Exeter’s testing venue is located within Brittany House on New North Road (B3183), in the heart of the city centre. The M5 motorway runs directly past the east of the city, and therefore offers decent connections into the centre of Exeter. If approaching from the west, the A30 and A377 will provide appropriate travel towards the test site.

Parking

There are various local parking options available. The Unite Northernay Car Park is tethered to Brittany House, but only facilitates eight parking spaces. If you were to be fortunate enough to secure a space, parking tickets with four-hour coverage are charged at a rate of £6.00. However, we would recommend having at least one other parking site in mind.

Howell Road Car Park is perhaps the most convenient alternative, located just 150m north of the test centre. A two-hour parking ticket from this facility costs £3.40, which will provide ample time for you to head to the venue, conduct your exam, and then return to your vehicle. To reach Brittany House, simply head south on Howell Road and Longbrook Street, citing the venue as you approach the B3183.

Alternative parking sites can be found via the relevant Parkopedia page.

Bus

Given the test centre’s extremely central location, there are multiple bus routes which pass in close proximity. If taking advantage of a service within Exeter’s local bus network, we would encourage you to target arrival, if possible, at one of the following bus stops:

Paris Street, High Street, or Portland House. All of these destinations are within a few minutes-walk of Brittany House. Please also note that Exeter Bus Station is situated just over 300m south of the test venue.

Train

There are several train stations in Exeter, with Exeter Central the closest station to Brittany House. However, Exeter St. David’s is the city’s main transport hub. Therefore, if you’re approaching from a location a considerable distance away, you may find that your service reports to this station as opposed to Exeter Central.

If heading to the venue from Exeter Central: The station is around 650m west of Brittany House. Head south on Queen Street, then turn left to head towards Northernay Gardens. These gardens provide a perimeter walk around Exeter Castle; complete this route, before exiting right onto New North Road, and progressing south towards the test centre.

If heading to the venue from Exeter St. David’s: The station is around 1.25km west of Brittany House. Head east on Howell Road, then turn right onto New North Road. From here, conduct the long, one-kilometre, straight-forward walk towards the test site. Alternatively, you can take the 5A Exeter City Centre bus service from directly outside the station. Exit at Portland House bus stop, which is positioned around 100m north of Brittany House. This journey will take approximately eighteen minutes to navigate.
