Car
The test venue is located in the heart of Bristol city centre, and resides within Crewicke House. It’s well-serviced by various road and public transport routes.
If travelling by car, please be aware that the city of Bristol can be accessed via the M4 heading southbound from the north, and the M5 entering the Bristol’s outskirts from the east. The M32 cuts through the centre of the city, so therefore is likely to be the most effective road to take.
Despite the venue’s central location, nearby car parks are in short supply. We’ve identified two potential options below. If you wish to consider any alternative parking venues within this vicinity, please click the following link.
Broad Plain Car Park
This site operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Set parking costs are listed below:
- 1 hour = £3
- 2 hours = £4
- 3 hours = £5
- 4 hours = £7
Given test duration and onwards walk to the centre, there shouldn’t be any requirement to need longer than four-hour coverage. However, if you’re planning to spend some time in Bristol before exiting the city, 12-hour (£18) and full-day (£20) tickets are available.
This car park accepts cash, or payments made via the Pay by Phone service line. If using this automated system, please either call 0330-400-7275, or text 65565. In either case, please have the location ID (89303) to hand.
The onwards walk to the venue is relatively lengthy from here. Therefore, it might be worth considering utilizing a local bus route. The A1 Airport Flyer, exiting from Temple Meads train station will take you up to Colston Avenue South, a two-minute eastbound walk away from the test centre. To reach the station, head southbound from the car park, navigating the bridge over the River Avon in the process.
Temple Quarter Car Park
Again, this facility is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Tickets are priced as follows:
- 2 hours = £2.50
- 4 hours = £4.50
Again, four hours should be more than enough time to walk to the venue, conduct your test, and return to your vehicle. However, should you need longer in the city for whatever purpose day (£9) and overnight (£2) tickets are available.
Payments for parking must be made via the RingGo service line, contactable on 01173419000 (81025 via SMS). When paying, please quote location ID, 2112).
The car park is located just outside Bristol Temple Meads train station, which is just over 1km away from the test site. If looking to take advantage of a local bus service to make this journey, please follow the guidance given within the Broad Plain Car Park section. If walking, head north-west over Bristol Bridge, beyond St. Nicholas Market, and onto Small Street. Creswicke House will be on your left-hand side on arrival.
Bus
There are numerous bus services that will take you to bus stops close to the test site. We’ve selected four routes heading into Bristol city centre from various directions, and hope at least one will be appropriate for your personal journey to the venue.
43: The number 43 originates in the eastern outskirts of the city in Cadbury Heath and heads westward into the centre of Bristol. Please exit the bus at Colston Avenue South. This bus stop is located just south of the drop-off point mentioned in the Broad Plain Car Park notes.
48: This service starts in Emmerson Green to the north-east of the city, and terminates in Bristol city centre. If using this route, please leave the bus at either Nelson Street or Rupert Street – both are in close proximity to one another. From either bus stop, the venue is a short, 300m south-westerly walk away.
672: This transit line loops around the southern end of the city, covering the city centre in the northern part of its journey. Please exit the bus at Bond Street, and head southwest. Travel beyond the shopping quarter and onto Quay Street, before turning left towards the test centre destination on Smart Street.
FALCON: Bristol’s falcon service offers a rapid route between Plymouth on the south coast and Bristol’s northern outskirts. Please leave the bus at Cabot Circus stop, approximately 1km from the test site. If walking, please again head southwest, passing the shopping district en route to Smart Street. There is an available public transport service which will help shorten your journey time, which is the M3 Metrobus. This leaves from Cabot Circus stop, and will take you south-west Colston Avenue, just across the road from the aforementioned Colston Avenue South. Therefore, the venue is also a short, two-minute walk from here, heading in an easterly direction.
If none of these services pass through your locality, please head to the bustimes.org landing page, and search for alternative bus routes into Bristol city centre.
Train
Bristol’s largest train station, Temple Meads, as previously mentioned, is just over one kilometre away from the test site. This station welcomes services from all over the UK, so should be easily reachable from any region in the country.
To locate the test centre from here, please refer back to the travel instructions given in the Broad Plain Car Park section of the notes. This building is located adjacently to the train station.
